11 benefits of eating avocado

The avocado is a pretty unique type of fruit and it has amazing benefits and properties. Most fruits consist mainly of carbohydrates, while avocado is rich in healthy fats.

1. Avocado is incredibly nutritious

This fruit is very appreciated for its high nutritional value and is added to all kinds of dishes due to its good flavour and rich texture. It is the main ingredient of guacamole. These days, the avocado has become an incredibly popular food among people aware of the importance of healthy eating.

Avocados do not contain cholesterol or sodium, and are low in saturated fats. From our point of view, we do not believe that matters, but this is one of the reasons why they are favoured by many "old school" experts who still believe that these things are inherently harmful.

2. Avocados contain more potassium than bananas

Potassium is a nutrient that most people suffer from deficiency. This nutrient helps maintain electrical gradients in the cells of the body and fulfils several important functions.

Several studies show that having a high potassium intake is related to the reduction of blood pressure, an important risk factor for heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure.

3. The avocado is a high-fat food

The majority of avocado fat is oleic acid. This is a monounsaturated fatty acid that is also the main component of olive oil and is believed to be responsible for some of its beneficial effects.

4. Avocados are loaded with fibber

Fibber is another nutrient found in relatively large quantities in avocado. Fiber is non-digestible plant material that can contribute to weight loss, reduce peak blood sugar and is closely related to a lower risk of many diseases.

It is known that soluble fibber can nourish the friendly intestinal bacteria in the intestine, which are very important for the optimal functioning of our bodies.

5.  It is known that several blood markers are related to an increased risk. This includes cholesterol, triglycerides, markers of inflammation, blood pressure and many others.

The effects of avocado on some of these risk factors have been studied in 8 controlled trials in humans. In these studies people were divided into groups ... one group was instructed to eat avocados, while the other was not.

6. One study analyzed the eating habits and health of people who eat avocados. It was found that avocado consumers were much healthier than people who did not eat avocados.

They had a much higher nutrient intake and were half as likely to have metabolic syndrome, a set of symptoms that are a major risk factor for heart disease and diabetes.

7. Avocado fat can help absorb nutrients from plant foods

When it comes to nutrients, the total amount of them is not the only thing that matters.

We also need to be able to absorb them ... move them from the digestive tract to the body, where they can be used. Some nutrients are "fat soluble", which means they must be combined with fat to be used.

So ... the avocado is not only highly nutritious, but it can also dramatically increase the nutritional value of other plant foods you are eating.

This is an excellent reason to always include a source of healthy fat when you eat vegetables. Without it, many of the beneficial plant nutrients will be wasted.

8.  Therefore, eating avocados should have long-term eye health benefits.

9. Avocado can help prevent cancer

There is limited evidence that avocado can be beneficial in preventing cancer. However, we must bear in mind that these studies were carried out in isolated cells and do not really prove anything about what happens in a human being who lives and breathes.

10. Eating avocado can help you lose weight

There is some evidence that avocados are easy foods to lose weight. In one study , people were divided into groups. One group was instructed to eat a meal that contained avocado, and the other a similar meal without avocado. Then they were asked a series of questions related to hunger and satiety.

11.  They are also incredibly delicious and include all kinds of food.

You can add them to salads and various types of recipes, or you can simply remove the pulp with a spoon and eat them without complications.

They have a creamy, rich and fatty texture, and combine well with other ingredients.
