Home Remedies for Mosquito Bites



Where one side the monsoon gives us relief from the scorching heat, but on the other side it also brings the mosquitoes with it. After the monsoon, the pitfalls on the roads are filled with the dirty water. And these pitfalls filled with dirty water are the best places for mosquitoes to breed. Because of the mosquitoes, people are suffering from different diseases like Malaria, Dengue, etc. And every year many people die because of these diseases.




But not all the mosquito bite causes these diseases. Some mosquito bites only leave a bump on the skin with an itching sensation. But that itching also irritates a lot. So, to get relief from the mosquito bites we are sharing few home remedies with you. But these home remedies are only helpful for mosquito bites. In case of diseases caused due to mosquito bites, one should refer to doctor only.

Let’s check these home remedies for mosquito bites which we have listed below.

Ice – 

We all know that how helpful ice is when it comes to reducing inflammation or pain. And that is why it is helpful in the mosquito bite also. You can rub the ice wrapped in a clean cloth on the mosquito bite area. It will reduce the itching sensation and also it will limit the infection of mosquito bite also. Along with that, it will also help in soothing the swelling which is caused by a mosquito bite. Place the ice pack or ice wrapped cloth on the mosquito bite for around 15 minutes.

Hot Water




Just like the ice the hot water or the boiling water can also be helpful in treating mosquito bite. Before also, people used the method of hot water to cure the insect bites. With the help of hot water, the effect of the mosquito bite can be reduced. One can use the cloth dipped in hot water for mosquito bite by placing it on the bite. Place it for around 8 to 10 minutes on the affected area.

Aloe Vera Gel


The benefits of Aloe Vera Gel for our skin is known to all. And because of its anti-inflammatory properties, it can help in treating the mosquito bites also. You can either use the fresh aloe vera gel extracted from its stem. Or else if you have stored aloe vera gel in your refrigerator then you can use that also. As because of the cooling effect of it, it can help in giving relief from itching. Just apply a layer of aloe vera gel on the affected area and let it be there for some time. You can use this method 3 to 4 times in a day and it does not have any side effect also.

Lemon

 

Lemon is available at almost every home. And because of the anti-inflammatory and acidic property of lemon, it is highly effective also. It not just helps in getting relief from the itching caused due to a mosquito bite. But it will help in reducing the swelling also. Just take a half lemon and rub it on the mosquito bite area. Let the lemon juice be on the affected area for around 5 to 7 minutes. After that, wash the affected area using plain water.

Honey

We need not say how good honey is in treating different bacterial infections because of its antibacterial properties. And not only that, it will also help in getting relief from the itching sensation we have because of its anti-inflammatory properties. It will not let the mosquito bite infection spread more. You can take 2 to 3 drops of honey and can apply it on the mosquito bite. Using it 2 to 3 times in a day will help in getting complete relief from the mosquito bite.

Toothpaste 



Don’t be surprised that why to use toothpaste for a mosquito bite. Toothpaste is sometimes also suggested for acne also. However, we will not suggest you apply toothpaste on your face even if you have a mosquito bite on your face. But you can apply it on other parts of your body if you have mosquito bite there. The toothpaste which has peppermint or menthol in them are more effective. They will help in getting relief from the itching. You just simply need to apply the toothpaste on the mosquito bite area.
