Some healthy bedtime habits for a healthy sleep


You must be thinking that what bedtime habits we are going to talk about. Because we all never consider such habits in our day to day routine. And once you will adopt these bedtime habits you will get a healthy sleep. The fact is that adopting these bedtime habits help you in keeping your mind and body both fresh. And then, you will be able to focus on your other day to day activities also. So, directly or indirectly, there are many bedtime habits, which can work as a catalyst for your sound sleep. Because the unhealthy bedtime habits are some of the reasons which are making you feel sleep deprived.

Here we will share with you some very common bedtime habits which you all are aware of but have not changed yet. And if you will change these habits and will adopt the new bedtime habits, you will yourself witness the change which you feel. So, let’s learn some healthy bedtime habits for a healthy sleep.





Lights Off – Many of us have a habit of keeping the light on. And it can be because of any reason. Sometimes out of laziness also, we do not like to walk to the switch off the light to turn it off. Remember sleeping in dark is really helpful. It helps in giving you a proper sleep as it helps in reducing the stress in your mind. When you sleep in dark, a hormone known as melatonin releases. And this hormone is good for stress as it helps in keeping stress away from us. So, through this, we are able to use our complete sleep time by getting a quality sleep.

But still, if you feel like keeping lights on while sleeping, then we suggest you use a blue color light and also the dim light. It will be great if you can use a night lamp.

Use washroom before coming to bed – Now, you all would have guessed why I am saying so. Waking up in the middle of the night to use the washroom may disturb your sleep. We understand that it might disturb you again also in the mid of the night. But why not to take the precaution before only. Because for some people it becomes very difficult to sleep again after waking up once. And this disturbs their sleep cycle which also can affect the body weight. As less sleep increases stress.


No laptop, TV or Mobile – Say ‘NO’ to your laptop, your mobile, and your TV as well around 1 hour before you go to sleep. The reason is the harmful radiations caused by all of these. Also, when we use them on the bed, they take most of the time of our sleep because of the many distractions they have. So, it is better to check these before only and keep them aside at least one hour before your bedtime.

Wear clothes which are comfortable during sleep – The best is to get in the night wears before sleep time. Do not wear tight clothes or uncomfortable clothes during sleep. As you may feel uneasy during the sleep. And then you will not be able to sleep properly. It is better to choose cotton clothes and loose clothes at night.

Have a glass of warm milk – You would have heard of doctor’s recommending to people suffering from Insomnia to drink warm milk. Yes, it is really helpful in sleep. Just a glass of warm milk, and you will feel sleepy in some time. If you want you can add turmeric or almond to milk.



Develop a habit of reading – Instead of using your gadgets, we suggest you read a novel or any book before sleeping. There are many people who quickly get to sleep after reading a novel or book. It helps in making one asleep fast as it will not have many distractions like your gadgets.

Take shower – Shower will make you feel fresh and with that freshness, you will be able to sleep quickly especially if you are tired after a long hectic day. After the shower, do not forget to moisturize your body. While moisturizing your body you can massage your body parts gently, this will help in getting relief from the pain and stress and you will fall asleep quickly.
